Welcome to the first Sunday Scaries of 2026.
If this week already feels louder, bolder, or just… different, you’re not imagining it.
We’ve officially entered the year of the Fire Horse, according to the Chinese Zodiac, and while that might feel like some astrological woo-woo, I’ll sum it as an energy shift.
🗑️🔥 And after the dumpster fire that was 2025, I will take any positive shift we can get!
In fact, I am so inspired by the year of the fire horse, I dug up this photo from the depths of Facebook, circa 2009, just to have a picture of me riding a horse…named Dilbert. 😆
If last year (hello, Wood Snake) felt mentally exhausting and oddly political with an undercurrent of internal shedding, then you’re about to reap the rewards of that inner work with a year that’s all about momentum, courage, and doing big things – externally.
Whether you believe in energy, astrology, or just the freshness of a new calendar year, one thing is clear: something moved.
Here’s how that Fire Horse energy is already showing up, and what it might be asking of you (and your Sunday Scaries).
1️⃣ Energy Is a Thing (Even If You Don’t Want It to Be)
You don’t have to follow astrology to notice when the energy in a room — or a season — changes.
We’ve all experienced that feeling of walking into a space and instantly sensing that something is either off or very much on. The same goes for people… and, apparently, for time itself.
The idea of a Fire Horse 🔥🏇 year comes from the Chinese zodiac which is based on ancient observations of natural cycles. Combinations of 12 animals and 5 elements across a 60-year cycle form a calendar of distinct energy signatures in a system to track time, agriculture and societal rhythms.
In short: ancient humans were very good at pattern recognition…not mystical fortune-telling. 😏
And so, here we are; moving out of a slower, more internal Wood Snake 🪵🐍 year and into Fire Horse territory.
This metal monkey is very excited to move into a louder and bolder twelve months that’s all about visibility!
💡 Lesson: You don’t need to buy into the framework — you just need to notice the shift.
2️⃣ Fire Horse Energy Rewards Motion
One of the reasons people are so excited for the Fire Horse is because this is a year that’s all about action, visibility, and outcomes.
This is not the year of color-coded spreadsheets and flawless five-year plans.
It’s the year of trying, adjusting, learning, and moving again. Fire Horse energy doesn’t wait for certainty but instead helps us build confidence through action (sounds familiar, eh?).
If your Sunday Scaries sound more like “I need to do something” than “I need to know everything,” you’re right on time, and this is the year to make moves.
💡 Lesson: Momentum beats perfection every single time.
3️⃣ The Sunday Scaries Sound Different This Year
Last year felt dense. Heavy. Internally complicated. Like everything required processing before you could even think about moving.
This year doesn’t feel like that.
Even if you haven’t felt the difference in the first four days of this new year, it’s coming. Look out for changes in the way you think, talk to yourself, and look at circumstances.
Instead of “What’s wrong with me?” you may start asking yourself:
- Why am I still [doing X, working this job, insert the thing]?
- Why does this [thing] feel too small now?
- What am I ready to get out there and do?
That’s not your Sunday night anxiety picking up steam; that’s momentum knocking.
Fire Horse years don’t ask politely. They bring clarity through restlessness, action, and the complete urge to take things to the next level. .
💡 Lesson: Don’t numb the discomfort — decode it.
4️⃣ Big Energy Needs a Container
Here’s the catch with Fire Horse energy: it’s powerful, but it’s impatient.
When momentum shows up without direction, it can feel like overwhelm, burnout, or starting ten things and finishing none.
That’s not because the energy is “too much” — it’s because it doesn’t have a container yet.
You either become the container — or you build one.
This is the year to pair courage with intention. Movement with meaning. Action with alignment.
This is the year to do your thing.
💡 Lesson: Energy needs direction to become progress.
5️⃣ Accidentally Launching a Book Is Very Fire Horse of Me 🔥📖
I didn’t plan to launch Scary Good because it was a Fire Horse year. In fact I didn’t end up down this rabbit hole that is the Chinese Zodiac until everyone started talking about the Fire Horse year.
(And then I found out it is particularly friendly to a Metal Monkey, like me. 🙈)
So, of course it landed here.
Launching your first book is bold. It’s visible. It’s decisive. And it came from years of paying attention to exactly what the Sunday Scaries were trying to tell me — then finally doing something about it. Right in time for the Fire Horse to help me out (I hope).
Sometimes alignment only makes sense after the leap.
💡 Lesson: Courage usually shows up after you move. Scary Good launches Thursday…more at scarygoodread.com 😉
6️⃣ Fire Horse Energy Loves Community (Not Lone Wolves)
Horses don’t thrive alone — and neither do big transitions.
Fire Horse years favor collaboration, shared momentum, and support systems that help you move instead of spin. If your Sunday Scaries are tied to work, career uncertainty, or a sense that something needs to change, you don’t have to navigate that solo.
That’s exactly why the Job Seeker Summit exists — structure, clarity, and community when energy is high but direction feels fuzzy.
💡 Lesson: Big moves are easier with the right people around you, and you’ll have access to lots of them at the Job Seeker Summit on January 8th. Register now!
7️⃣ You Don’t Have to Tame This Year — Just Ride It
This year doesn’t need to be controlled, mastered, or perfectly planned.
It needs to be engaged with.
Fire Horse energy rewards people who show up honestly, take imperfect action, and trust themselves enough to move forward without guarantees.
💡 Lesson: You don’t need a perfect plan — you need the courage to participate in life.
Here’s to riding the energy, trusting the process, and stepping into 2026 with intention.
Your Friend and Coach,
Angie
