In case you missed it, last week was….big.
It was a little chaotic, maybe even a tad overwhelming, but in the fullest, best possible way.
Between the official book launch, a massive online event, recognizing incredible humans, and holding the physical copy of something that used to live only in my head, it felt like an entire year happened in a day.
Such is January 8th in the life of Angie Callen!
It turns out the Sunday Scaries can actually lead us somewhere if we allow them, and in this case, it let me somewhere quite literal…and quite Scary Good. 😉
If you need a reminder or maybe a little insight into what your Sunday Scaries may be able to do for you, keep reading on to find out the seven things this week reinforced for me.
1️⃣ Signals Compound When You Pay Attention to Them
The day has finally arrived. Scary Good: Discovering Life Beyond the Sunday Scaries is out in the world and available for purchase on Kindle and in paperback (it’s so sexy!)
If you’re a frequent reader of my weekly newsletters, you know Scary Good didn’t come from a sudden urge or burst of confidence to write a book.
📚 It came from showing up here, every week, writing, reflecting, noticing patterns, and sharing what I’ve been learning about life –– in real time.
The “One Sunday at a Time” approach has accumulated.
Last week, over 200 weeks of paying attention culminated in the official launch of my book, and it feels like the most significant, important, and proudest moment of my career (and life?) so far.
💡 Lesson: Small, honest steps compound in ways you can’t predict — but you can trust.
2️⃣ You Can Outperform Your Own Expectations
As if launching this book wasn’t meaningful enough, within about 48 hours, I found a special little tag at the top of the Amazon listing:
🤯 #1 New Release in Entrepreneurship.
I mean, I knew I followed some of the rules of “how to launch a book,” but that one blew my mind.
And I have you to thank. 🙏
What’s even better is that Scary Good has maintained the Top Release in Entrepreneurship since it earned it –– five days seeing my book’s cover with a little #1 over it…
Now that’s Scary Good. 😁
💡 Lesson: Most of us underestimate what’s possible, but growth has a way of surprising the one doing the growing.
3️⃣ Humans Move Faster Together
I get a little preachy with the collaboration > competition and “we’re better together stuff,” but there’s a reason.
It’s true.
And if you don’t believe it, just look at Thursday’s Third Annual Job Seeker Summit –– it was one of the most generous, collaborative things I’ve ever been part of, and apparently it was also much needed.
Thirty-one coaches.
Over eight hundred job seekers.
Zero competition. All contributions.
Even the engagement in chat was incredible…and no one could see each other.
People coming together is an incredible thing, and considering how tough this job market is, we all need to be working as one to support each other, our businesses, and our sanity.
I think Thursday’s event did just that.
💡 Lesson: Real momentum is built in community, not isolation.
4️⃣ Teaching Reinforces What You Actually Know
We hear this a lot in the entrepreneurial world: give your best stuff away, and the business will come.
Another cliché, another truth (hey, I think that’s a line in my book! 😏)
I’ve decided there’s an underlying reason why giving knowledge away creates ultimate success: every time we teach, we reinforce (maybe even expand) what we know.
One of my favorite ways to transfer all the information I’ve packed away as a coach is through the Master Job Search Coach certification program.
Talk about energy in a virtual room!
As a teacher’s kid, I probably love training and facilitating more than most, but whether you like it or not, I know for sure that giving your best ideas away doesn’t dilute them.
👉 It compounds them.

💡 Lesson: Sharing what you know makes everyone stronger.
5️⃣ Patterns Don’t Lie
During the Summit, something became very clear.
Every job seeker out there is facing similar challenges, asking the same questions, and seeking the same kind of structure and support.
👂How could I not heed that call?
That’s why I’m coming out of retirement and revising a program I haven’t offered in four years.
Not because we missed it, but because the need has shown up, and we’re here to support.
From now through January 19th, you can grab a seat in an exclusive, only-for-the-inner-circle job search bootcamp facilitated entirely by yours truly.
As humans, it’s our job to serve each other. If you’ve got the resources that will make someone else’s life better, whether it’s a job search or a warm meal, extend them. You will be just as grateful as the recipient. Promise.
💡 Lesson: When the same thing keeps tapping you on the shoulder, it’s usually asking to be answered.
6️⃣ Recognition Matters More Than We Admit
We all have a love language, and for some, it’s recognition. But whether words of affirmation fall at the top or the bottom of your list, we can all appreciate being called out for the good things we do.
This week reminded me how powerful it is to pause and acknowledge the people who make meaningful work possible.
From shouting out the nine founding coaches who helped me start, and have been with me for every one of the Job Seeker Summits, to celebrating the first 20 certified Master Job Search Coaches, I had just as good a time loving on other people as I did seeing my book at the top of a list!
And you get to help me keep that momentum.
Literally.
🏆The SECOND ANNUAL MOMENTUM AWARDS are now open for nominations!
We’re celebrating forward-thinking coaches who embody the values of The Modern Coach:
Authenticity. Innovation. Influence. Presence.
Nominate your favorite coach today!
💡 Lesson: Celebrating people keeps the work human.
7️⃣ Big Weeks Still Require Rest
As energizing as this week was, it also reminded me of something simple:
How important it is to run away to the basement and reorganize the outdoor gear.
😆😆😆
Rest doesn’t erase progress. It helps you get ready for the next big push.
💡 Lesson: Giving yourself a moment to breathe is all part of the human experience.
This week didn’t happen by accident. There’s a reason I do everything (like, seriously, everything) on January 8th. However, a lot of days, weeks, and months went into making the day what it was.
So, while I sit here and figure out what I’m going to do with the remaining 354 days of 2026 (😅), I’ll leave you with a big New Year’s hug and reminder to:
Pay attention.
Choose courage.
Let work –– and life –– be built on purpose.
Your Friend and Coach,
Angie
