Nine extra humans have been living in our house for the past week as part of the annual Callen family visit.
We’ve skied four days, watched a 5.5-year-old conquer the chairlift, and created a mudroom situation that may require professional intervention. It’s been chaotic, exhausting, and genuinely really good.
Despite the stress of having your entire in-law family invade your house, I always enjoy this trip.
I also appreciate it when it’s over. 🤷🏻♀️
There is something psychologically stabilizing about knowing when something ends.
Even when it’s fun.
Even when it’s family.
Even when it’s objectively a privilege.
We had mentally prepared for:
One more breakfast.
One more ski day.
One more chaotic gear explosion in the mudroom.
Then New York decided to host a historic nor’easter right in time for their return flights.
Now?
We are in bonus time.
Overtime.
Sudden death.
Six days has become eleven.
🤪My sanity may be at minus eleven.
You can’t even be mad. It’s too perfectly timed. The universe saw us relaxing into the home stretch and said, “Let’s make this interesting.”
So this week’s Sunday Scaries aren’t about Monday.
They’re about dishwasher capacity, coffee inventory, and whether the toilet paper situation has been accurately assessed.
So, while I steal time from writing you a full Sunday seven to prepare for the continuation of this marathon, I leave you with one simple tip.
💡 Lesson: Maybe don’t celebrate the end of anything until the plane actually takes off.
And always buy extra toilet paper.
🙏🏻Praying for clear skies…
Your Friend and Coach,
Angie 😵💫
